Ubatuba, with 80% of the area with native forest preserved by the “Parque Estadual da Serra do Mar” is known internationally because of its big diversity of birds. It is estimated that the city has 540 species, some endemic, that it is the reason why it is known as “the Brazilian capital for bird watching”. In the Bananal Ecolodge it is not necessary much effort to see several birds every day.
Among the most known species and admired by their colors are Tiê-Sangue, Saíra Sete-Cores, Tangará, Garrinchão, Beija-Flor Rajado, Topetinho Verde, Apuim de Costas Negras, Choquinha Pequena and many others.
